BONFIRE MEMBERS
Dear ___________________________,
I am writing to express my extreme displeasure with the recent city council decision to close so many public bathrooms. For my men’s group, this might be the final blow to our much-enjoyed monthly bonfire, if close to fifty men, mostly 50-80 cannot use a restroom for so many hours.
Beyond our group who would simply cease to take advantage of the beautiful city we pay so much to live in, though, the effects go far further. San Diego is a tourist city and visitors who find they cannot take advantage of the parks and beaches they have come to love will look elsewhere. Others to keep coming will like take to relieving themselves in the sand, on the sides of buildings, or even in the ponds and bay. Those in search of privacy to relieve themselves will head for darker places where the likelihood of injury or even assault increase.
Everything about this idea smells worse than a dirty bathroom. Please put your support behind finding someplace else to save money and return the bathrooms to city park users so that we can enjoy the resources nearby. We will remember at election time who left us unable to enjoy our city as much and/or who made it possible to keep doing so. Thank you!
